Lake Nakuru National Park- Wildlife and Game Viewing
The lake's abundance of algae attracts the vast quantity of flamingos that famously lines the shore. Other birds also flourish in the area, as do warthogs, baboons and other large mammals. Black and white rhinos have also been introduced.

Lake Nakuru -History
Nakuru means "Dust or Dusty Place" in the Masai language. Lake Nakuru National Park, close to Nakuru town, was established in 1961. It started off small, only encompassing the famous lake and the surrounding mountainous vicinity, but has since been extended to include a large part of the savannahs.
Bird watching - birding safaris in Lake Nakuru National Park
Lake Nakuru was the first place in Africa to be designated a National Park primarily because of the birds. Lake Nakuru has a comparatively low concentration of salts (compared to the 'real' soda lakes) and it also supports a fish population. Bird watching and bird safaris in Lake Nakuru will give one a chance to see birds like Lesser and Greater Flamingoes, Great White Pelicans, Great Crested Grebe, Grey-crested Helmet-shrike and Jackson's Widowbird
